Special Olympics Summer Games came to the Seattle area in June
More than 6,000 athletes, coaches, volunteers and family members united for the annual Special Olympics Washington Summer Games. The opening ceremonies at Fort Lewis near Tacoma were on Friday June 1, and athletic competition ran through Sunday.
This year was a smash hit for Symetra at the Summer Special Olympics, where we were able to support two Symetra Bingo Booths, thanks to the volunteer efforts of over 40 Symetra employees and friends. Without the participation and generosity of those that volunteered their time and energies, it wouldn't have been possible, nor such a success. The high level of Symetra volunteer participation makes the Special Olympics an event that Symetra volunteers will continue to make a difference and reach for great things.
Being a part of this event is one of the most incredible investments that Ive found and yields more rewards than can be put to words. The smiles on their faces, the excitement in their voices, and the sparkle in their eyes as they call out BINGO, make every moment shared more memorable then the last, says Kelly Babcock, Special Olympics volunteer and Symetra employee. Im anxiously looking forward to the endless possibilities of next years participation for our company and am very proud to be part of such a distinguished team. Way to go Team Symetra! Special Olympics changes lives, the organization is a vehicle for positive change. Ive never heard an athlete, family member or volunteer say they regret participating. Everywhere you look, athletes are mastering new skills and making friends; and volunteers are being reminded of why theyre reaching out to their community..
